As a large enterprise located in Tinh Gia district, the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical LLC (NSRP) has implemented many projects over the years aiming at livelihood restoration, economic development, healthcare and education support for people affected by the NSRP project.
The Community Health Development (CHD) phase 1 project was conducted from 2016, then the second phase in 2017- 2018. Over the three years of implementation, the project has been acknowledged by community and local authorities for its significant contribution to the improvement of people’s knowledge and practice about healthcare and disease prevention, as well as the enhancement of commune’s health staff capacity and promotion of the quality of local healthcare services.
In order to continue supporting and developing community health, NSRP has just signed a contract with the Center for Environment and Health Studies (CEHS) to implement phase 3 of the project. The launching workshop of CHD phase 3 (CHD3) was held in the morning of August 30, 2019 at the Tinh Gia District Health Center (TG DHC).
The project aims at continuing monitoring community health indicators in 10 communes and improving the quality of local health services and villagers’ knowledge of cardiovascular disease, stroke prevention, goiter, skin irritation, hypertension, and diabetes prevention in order to promote community health.
Attending the workshop were representatives of Tinh Gia District Health Department, TG DHC, Tinh Hai and Mai Lam People’s Committee, Youth’s Union, Women’s Union and Primary Schools which are main local partners of this project. In addition, the workshop also attracted the attention of representatives of 10 commune health stations, including Hai Yen, Mai Lam, Nguyen Binh, Tinh Hai, Xuan Lam, Hai Binh, Nghi Son, Hai Thuong, Hai Ha and Binh Minh.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Van Thiep – Deputy Chairman of People’s Healthcare Committee of Tinh Gia district, Director of TG DHC highly appreciated NSRP’s contribution to the care and protection of community health in the district area, especially for 4 directly affected communes by the NSRP construction. On behalf of NSRP, Mr Trinh Xuan Duc – Deputy Manager of Social and Community section, thanked the support and companionship of Tinh Gia District People’s Committee, Commune People’s Committees participating in the project, the support and close coordination of the local health sector, especially TG DHC, so that NSRP’s social investment projects would be effectively implemented, bringing practical benefits to the people in the surrounding communes of NSRP.
