On the morning of January 18th, at the headquarter of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam), Vice President Le Manh Hung welcomed and worked with Mr. Azzam Al – Mutawa, Deputy General Director of Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI), Chairman of Member Council of Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical LLC (NSRP).
Attending the meeting were Deputy General Director of NSRP – Mr. Pham Van Chat and representatives of leaders of the Group’s departments.
On behalf of Petrovietnam leaders, Vice President Le Manh Hung congratulated Mr. Azzam Al – Mutawa on his appointment as Chairman of NSRP’s Member Council.
On this occasion, Vice President Le Manh Hung introduced briefly to Mr. Azzam Al – Mutawa activities of Petrovietnam, especially the oil and gas-processing sector, one of the five main areas of the Group.
At the same time, Vice President Le Manh Hung also informed about the business results of the Group in 2018 and some key projects in the field of oil and gas processing that the Group and its member units have implemented so far. Vice President Le Manh Hung also committed that Petrovietnam would facilitate and support NSRP to develop the project in the future.
At the meeting, the two sides exchanged information about cooperation projects between both parties, including the operation of NSRP in the coming period. Both parties wished to strengthen the cooperation and effective, stable operation of NSRP, bringing mutual benefits to the parties and contributing to the overall development of Vietnam’s economy.
Mr. Azzam Al-Mutawa hoped that Petrovietnam’s leaders would continue to support and assist in all activities so that he could fulfill his tasks as well as promote the development of cooperation between KPI and Petrovietnam and its subsidiaries in future projects.
NSRP Project is a joint-venture project established in April 2008 and sponsored by 4 corporations: Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), Kuwait Petroleum Europe B.V. (KPE) from Kuwait, Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd and Mitsui Chemical, Inc. from Japan to develop, construct and operate the Nghi Son Oil Refinery. With a total investment of over 9 billion USD and a processing capacity of 200,000 barrels of crude oil imported from Kuwait a day (equivalent to 10 million tons of crude oil a year), NSRP is one of national key projects on oil and gas of Vietnam. Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Complex has officially commenced its commercial operation since November 14th, 2018.
