NSRP hits the milestone of 200th very large crude carrier, strengthening Vietnam’s energy security

On July 5, 2024, Nghi Son Refining and Petrochemical LLC (NSRP) safely and successfully received its 200th very large crude carrier (VLCC) at its facility. The carrier, named Sea Pearl, arrived from Greece (final port Mina Al Ahmadi) and has a length of 333 meters, a width of 60 meters, and a capacity to transport nearly 300,000 tons of crude oil.

This achievement marks a significant milestone in the production operations of the Nghi Son refinery. Previously, on March 8, 2023, NSRP had celebrated the receipt of its 150th VLCC. To date, the refinery has received approximately 400 million barrels of crude oil from Kuwait.

Attaining this 200th VLCC receipt was made possible by NSRP’s focus on training and developing a team of specialized engineers with robust expertise and extensive experience, as well as the company’s collaboration with ship owners to ensure the safe receipt and pumping of crude oil.

Additionally, NSRP has established and continuously improved its coordination and operational processes, ensuring that work steps are controlled, accurately performed, and aligned with relevant standards and regulations.

The company also received valuable coordination and support from various authorities, including port authorities, customs, border guards, and the PTSC Thanh Hoa contractor, during the process of receiving crude oil carriers, operating tugboats, and monitoring oil import activities.

By strictly adhering to all necessary processes and regulations, we are poised to achieve even greater milestones in the years ahead – reaching the milestone of 300th, 400th, or even 500th VLCC, all while ensuring the utmost safety for our operations.”
