On April 14th, 2021, in Thanh Hoa, in cooperation with the Trade Union, NSRP held the Company’s 13th anniversary celebration event (April 14th, 2008 – April 14th, 2021) with various activities including the Marathon Challenge, Teambuilding Games and Talent Contest at the Living Quarter.
The event witnessed the presence of representatives of the Company’s Board of Management, Mr. Le Nguyen Quoc Vinh – Deputy General Director, Mr. Ton Weilers – Refinery General Manager, Mr. Takeru Horiguchi – Chief Business Office, Mr. La Manh Truong – NSRP Trade Union Chairman, Mr. Shigeru Matsuda – Human Resources and Training Manager, Mr. Tetsuya Uchio – Administration Manager, Managers and Deputy Managers of Division and Department of NSRP together with the participation of nearly 300 people, representing more than 1,300 NSRP employees.
13 years ago, on April 14th, 2008, the Enterprise Registration Certificate of NSRP officially took effect and NSRP decided to choose this date as the Foundation day of the Company to mark the first important milestone in its upcoming development pathway.
Through 13 years of construction and development, despite facing many difficulties, thanks to the promotion of high solidarity and discipline, absolute compliance with safety in production, NSRP has overcome all challenges, achieved success gradually and developed sustainably, becoming one of the leading key projects and pillars of national energy security.
The 13th anniversary celebration event called “NSRP Foundation Day” kicked off with the “Marathon Challenge”. The participated runners were given shirts and BIBs as well as informed necessary information about the rules and principles by the Organizing Committee to ensure the safety for all runners and the organizers during the race.
Although the Marathon Challenge started very early (6am), it still attracted the participation of more than 100 male and female runners, especially the presence of Deputy General Director Mr. Le Nguyen Quoc Vinh and TU Chairman Mr. La Manh Truong in the 10-km distance as well as Trade Union Vice Chairwoman Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Hoa in the 5-km distance.
After running rounds full of determination and perseverance, the runners completed their race and reached the finish line safely.

The Organizing Committee also prepared a tea break for the runners and participants to recharge their energy before taking part in the exciting Teambuilding activities that took place right after the Marathon Challenge.
The whole participants were divided into 7 teams, joining 2 games: tug of war and bag jumping. The Teambuilding activities received enthusiastic participation from representatives of the BOM, divisions/ departments and especially all employees who presented at the event.
After one hour of competing harshly in the afore-said games, the 2 teams HSSE and Operations/ Section 1&2 excellently won the first place. The Maintenance team with a large number of participants and the spirit of fierce competition won both 2 second prizes.
At 9.15am on the same day was the main ceremony to celebrate the NSRP Foundation day and the opening of the “NSRP Talent Contest”.
In the opening remark, Deputy General Director – Mr. Le Nguyen Quoc Vinh emotionally shared the development journey of NSRP over the past 13 years, important milestones achieved in the process of formation and development of the company. He affirmed: “This year, we will enter a new phase with a new journey to transform NSRP into a highly competitive refinery in the region that called the Transformation Program. This transformation journey will be a real turning point for each of us, as we need to work as one team connected, always putting NSRP first. Moreover, we will make NSRP to be a great place to work that people are proud and inspired to work for, our competitors admire, our customers advocate for, and our stake-holders value. With the Transformation Program ahead, I do hope that you will continue your hard work, your enthusiasm, your professionalism to work together as ONE TEAM heading towards ONE GOAL of making NSRP to be one of the most admired petroleum and petrochemical companies in the region.”
After the inspirational speech by Deputy General Director – Mr. Le Nguyen Quoc Vinh, Refinery General Manager Mr. Ton Weilers shared a few words with all the employees who attended the event: “Although NSRP is a new refinery which officially came into commercial operation in 2018, it has achieved such good and stable operation capacity like today thanks to the determination to work and ensure the accuracy and safety of all employees of which the most important thing is the solidarity and co-development of all members. I hope in the coming time, the whole NSRP will be more engaged and connected, try hard, work hard following the slogan ‘Better Together’ that we have set out “.
On behalf of the NSRP Trade Union, TU Chairman Mr. La Manh Truong re-affirmed the attachment and solidarity among members of the NSRP family as well as between the Trade Union and the Company, always aiming to create a professional and harmonious working environment to achieve the common development goals of NSRP. At the same time, he also emphasized the determination of the Trade Union organization, together with the BOM of the Company, to pay more and more attention to the quality of work as well as daily spiritual life for all NSRP employees and TU members.
Representing nearly 300 employees attended the event and more than 1,300 NSRP employees, Mr. Le Nguyen Quoc Vinh and Mr. Ton Wielers delivered the most beautiful flowers to HR&T Manager Mr. Shigeru Matsuda, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Diep – Leader of the Corporate Culture Development Team and Mr. La Manh Truong – NSRP Trade Union Chairman – who played such important and active roles in preparing and organizing such meaningful event to celebrate the NSRP 13th anniversary.
After the opening ceremony was the “NSRP’s TALENT CONTEST”. NSRP’s Talent Contest was created with the purposes of: (i) set up a platform for the development of each employee and create opportunities for employees to show/demonstrate their talents or unique skills; (ii) improve cultural connections and employee engagement, retain Top Talent for the Company; (iii) cultivate the potential inside each employee and explore their values during work.
After over one month launching, the Board of Jury had selected TOP 10 performances to compete and perform on the stage of “NSRP’s Talent contest”. The 10 extremely unique, diverse, and colorful performances brought the contestants’ passion to the entire audience and the judges. The whole stage was exploded by the applause and cheers for all contestants’ performances.
Finally, after more than 1 hour of passionate and enthusiastic competition, the awards of the “NSRP’s Talent Contest” went to the best teams and individuals.
The first prize went to the Maintenance Division with the fashion show called “R&D Collection” which was inspired by NSRP’s “Core Values”. This collection was made entirely of waste and recycled materials.

Earlier, the Corporate Culture Development Team had launched the SLOGAN CONTEST to widely spread out the Company’s Core Values (Leadership, Excellence, Safety, Humanity, Social Responsibility, Diversity) then further enhance awareness of employees of the afore-said core values.
Accordingly, after 3 weeks launching, from over 100 submitted slogans, after the evaluation round, the 14 best slogans were chosen and rewarded of which 5 slogans were granted the First prize, 4 slogans for the Second prize and 5 slogans for the Consolation prize.

It can be said that, over a decade of formation and development, overcoming many difficulties and challenges, achieving historic milestones, even in the extremely complex context of the Covid-19 pandemic, the growth, success and status that NSRP owns today are thanks to generations of leaders, officers and employees of the company over periods who have always been working with enthusiasm, wisdom and especially the solidarity, unanimity of all members for the common goals that putting NSRP development as the first priority. In the future, although we may cope with many difficulties and challenges as well as new successes, we do hope that all ‘NSRP-ers’ will be ready to conquer new peaks.
