NSRP successfully implemented activities under Education Support Project 2021 (EDS 2021)

NSRP has successfully carried out the Education Support Project 2021 at 5 schools (Tinh Hai, Mai Lam primary schools, Tinh Hai, Mai Lam and Hai Yen secondary schools ) in 03 communes /wards including Tinh Hai, Mai Lam and Hai Yen with the aim of helping students develop their essential skills to adapt to vibrant changes in the economic zone as well as create favorable condition for the students to apply the knowledge learned in schools. This project is a part of the NSRP Strategic Social Investment (SSI) Program which has been launched since 2015.

According to its design, EDS 2021 comprises 2 parts including in-house and outsource activities. Within the in-house part, 03 English Olympic contests were taken placed in Hai Yen, Tinh Hai and Mai Lam secondary schools on 2nd, 3rd and 4th December and 02 Ring Golden Bell contests were taken placed in Tinh Hai and Mai Lam primary schools on 9th and 10th December.

In the afore-said contests, 50 to 60 competitors selected from classes of each school would be on the stage to answer the questions ranging from easy to difficult levels. While the questions for Olympic English were designed in various fields that the students could present their rich knowledge in English, Ring the golden bell questions focused more on life-skills such as reproductive health, Covid-19 prevention, children abuse prevention, self-protection, environment protection, etc.

All participants of those edutainment events were excited and happy. They seemed eager to take part in every single activity of the contest. “We are really happy with this event because it somehow created the amazing environment for us to improve our life skills, especially English skills and we had a lot of fun with the interesting gameshow” said Le Thi Hoai Anh, an audience at Hai Yen secondary school. Representatives of 05 schools highly appreciated and thanked NSRP for organizing such meaningful events which brought positive effects to both students and the schools.

For outsource part, the project was designed with 28 English training classes at 4 schools (Tinh Hai and Mai Lam secondary schools, Tinh Hai and Mai Lam primary schools). Each class has about 25 students and focuses on communication skills (reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills) with the teaching of foreign teachers and support of Vietnamese teaching assistants. From September 13th, 2021, to December 11th, 2021, the first batch of 16 English training classes were carried out at Tinh Hai secondary school and Mai Lam secondary schools with good improvement of students. The remaining 12 training classes have been implementing at Tinh Hai primary school and Mai Lam primary school and will be completed by April 2022.

Recently, on December 22nd, 2021, the closing workshop was organized to review up-to-date results of EDS 2021 project. The workshop witnessed the participation of Mr. Trinh Xuan Duc – Deputy Section Manager of NSRP’s Social & Community Section, Mr. Quan Giang Thao – Deputy Manager of Nghi Son Department of Education and Training, and representatives from International Education Center of Hong Duc University (IEC) – the project partner, 03 communes/wards and local schools that are beneficiaries from this project.

At the workshop,  the project team presented a summary of implemented project activities in 2021. Representatives of the Education and Training Department of Nghi Son District and teachers from project schools also showed their appreciation towards the project activities. The project met the timeline and created positive effects for the local schools and students. Especially, local authorities and beneficiaries highly acknowledged remarkable contributions of NSRP to the local education mission and expected to cooperate with NSRP for future projects.
